Default Style not working in IE

These two styles work in Mozila however not IE:

.Gradient1 H1 {font: bold 220%/100% "Century Gothic", Arial, Verdana, sans-serif; position:relative; color: #5E93A3; margin: 0px;}
.Gradient1 H1 span {background: url(../images/Gradient-Stripes.png) repeat-x; position:absolute; display: block; width: 100%; height: 20px; margin: 0px;}

Any help would be apriciated.

If you haven't already, make sure the webpage AND the CSS both validate.

If they pass and you're still getting the problem, try undoing the shorthand into individual property-value pairs.

There's nothing "unusual" here, there's no reason this shouldn't be cross-browser compatible. As a last resort, try applying a test stylesheet with only these rules (nothing else). If it works, then something else in your stylesheet is creating a conflict for IE. If it doesn't, start deleting pieces until you find what's causing the problem.

What kind of page is this? Transitional HTML, Transitional XHTML, Strict XHTML??? That can make a big difference to IE, more so than even with other browsers.

I ended up removing the DocType line all together as a test as this has caused issues in past. OK so it should work based on your opinions?
