Default Using Flash in Dreamweaver Problem

Hi,
can anyone help me? i am having problems with looking at my site in internet explorer everytime i 'define a site'. If i dont 'define a site' everything works fine but when i do my flash no longer shows up and if i am using frames they all become 'this page cannot be found' pages. What am i doing wrong?!!

Also what code do i put in to flash buttons so they can control html pages in dreamweaver. i have basically made a navigation bar using flash but dont know how to make it change the page in the main frame.

Any help would be much appreciated because i am really struggling.

Thanks,

Michael

Hi there,

Can you post some of your code?

It looks like you are having problems with file referencing. When you create a site /Images/Bla.gif means an image located in the root of your site. When you have a file based page (e.g.: file://C:\My Document\MyFolder\Blabla.html) then /Images/Bla.gif refers to the root of your disk. It's unlikely your flash animations, etc are located there, and thus they show up as broken....

Hi Mike,

Do you have a folder that is reserved specifically for your website files? If not, I'd suggest you create one. It'll make life so much easier for you. Also, you may want to create an Assets folder to store things like images, Flash movies, etc.

Hi Ben,

Nothing personal here, and not trying to make a fuss about it, but if you reply to a post, can you please not quote the entire previous post? Since the entire thread is displayed on a page, quoting the whole message seems a bit unnecessary to me.
IMHO, the quote tags should be used to quote specific parts of someone's message, and are used to put special focus on that part....

Cheers,

Imar

Hi,

Thanks a lot everyone, i had a look at how my flash was being referenced in the code and it was: /bla.swf. so i got rid of the / and it works, it turns out that this is also the problem with the frames and i just have to open it in notepad and get rid of the /.

Thankyou again,

Michael
