Default Navigation buttons

I am brand new to web design and Dreamweaver MX 2004. I am trying the first exercise in the book "Beginning D.W.mx 2004" called The Cooking Place. I've got to the point of building the navigation buttons on three pages. All works okay, however, the buttons only appear on the "news" and "regions" pages if I load them directly into the test browser. For example, if I click on the "home" button of the "news" page I go to the "home" page okay, and if I click on the "news" button from the "home" page I go back to "news page, however I then find that all the buttons in "news" page are blank and no longer work. This condition also applies to the "region" page. The only page the buttons appear okay in the browser are on the "home" page. All my work has been carried out in Design

I'm losing sleep and hair. Is there a fairy godmother out there ???

Hi terry,

What chapter are you in (and page number)? Can you post the relevant part of the code of the news page here (right now, I don't have the book on my desk here).

When you look at the source of the page in the browser (right-click, choose View Source), what do you see?

Also, could it be that you are looking at an old and cached version of the page, that didn't have the button behavior yet? To find out, browse to the page that doesn't work, and use Ctrl+F5 to reload the page. Does it work then?

It's pretty late here right now, so it may take a while before I can answer again.

Cheers,

Imar

Hi Imar

Many thanks for your very prompt reply. I have now found the answer to my problem.
In the page title it reads " The Cooking Place regions %20 htm
In place of the %20 it should read . (full stop). Changing to full stop and "refreshing" has solved my problem.
However I'm sure I'll be calling on your expertise again soon. talk to you soon.

Regards

Terry s

Sure, no problem. Glad it's working.

Feel free to post any questions you have about the book (or about Dreamweaver in general) here. Be sure to specify the chapter and/or page number you're working on in any future posts, so it's easier to see what part you may have problems with.

Cheers,

Imar
