Default Animated Buttons Inside Navigation Bars?

Hi,

I am working on a website in Dreamweaver MX right now that's coming along pretty well. It's called The Terragen Vault and lately, I've been making needed changes where I see fit. I also have a custom navigation bar that is comprised of website buttons that I made with Animation Shop 2's Banner Wizard. Would it be advisable to have animated buttons in nav bars? Would it, at all, be distracting to website viewers?
As it is now, I have access to Windows Paint along with Animation Shop 2 which is made by a software company called JASC. I can also download a copy of a program called 1 Cool Button Tool but, Animation Shop 2 is my preferred image editor of choice right now.

Any feedback on this issue would be greatly appreciated

Thanks,

Ben
