Default Thousands and Decimals - Notation

In a "US" browser the thousand separator is " , " and " . " indicates the decimal one; in "Brazil´s" browser (for instance) it is exactly the opposite.

How can I use a dynamic text field with (say) "Number - 2 decimal places" format and be sure it will be shown in the "US" notation, even when the page is opened with "Brazil´s" definition in the user´s computer?

Thanks a lot,
fskilnik

Hi there.

Search Google for Session.LCID (that is, if you're using ASP for your web pages), FormatCurrency and CCur (separately).

These three techniques allow you to change the current locale of a page and then display stuff like currency correctly.

Instead of posting this in the Dreamweaver forum, I think you're better off posting these kind of questions in one of the ASP forums (again, assuming you're using ASP) as this is more code related than Dreamweaver related.

Hello, Imar!

Thanks for your quick reply. It was (as usual) excellent. :)

Best Regards,
fskilnik

P.S.1: you are right. I should use ASP forums for these matters...sorry! (Imar... do YOU answer ASP questions in a specific one, by the way? If so, could you give us the link to it ??)

P.S.2: to the interested readers, let me give the best links I found with Imar´s suggestions:

01) Good tutorial to put the LCID´s to work (coding):

02) International LCID´s (including USA number among PLENTY of others):

You're welcome. Glad it's working now.

It doesn't really matter what forums I read; what matters is that you select a forum that fits best with the question you have, to improve the chance on a good and quick answer ;)

Cheers,

Imar
