Default ASP With Testing Servers

Hi all,

Listen, I have a question about ASP pages created with Dreamweaver. I thought I'd go in and try to create an ASP page to see what it's like. All of a sudden after I was done specifying an ASP template, I got a message saying that I need to set up a testing server. Would anyone recommend downloading PWS and using that as a test server?

Hi Ben

What operating system are you on. Why not try Internet Information Services? Ships with Windows 2000.

Hi Adam,

I'm using the Windows 98 operating system. Someone told me that PWS is on the Windows 98 CD or I can get PWS as part of another download off the internet. I'd have to look around for the Windows 98 CD. If I don't have it, I will need to download PWS

Hi Ben,

IIS is preferred over PWS. However, it won't run on Windows 98 so you'll need indeed PWS on that platform.

I posted a few links describing how to install and download PWS in a previous thread at http://p2p.wrox.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=4463.

You were in on that thread as well, but you may have missed it.

Cheers,

Imar
