Default Excel makes extra files

Hi,

I am not sure if this question can be posted here, but I haven´t found really a Thread for it.

We have several computers and they are all conected to 1 drectory where they all save their files of excel.
1 computer always makes an extra file when opening/modifing an excelfile.
I have never see this before... Als the strange thing is that the user can not delete it (al the others can, maybe that its something to do with the rights, although it has full rights over it)
The extra file doesn´t has any extension. an example:

file original: Sales_abril_2009.xls
Extra file: AB0FR008

Anybody has seen this before?

thx

Edit 11:00: The problem with deleteing the files is resolved.....
Stil the othe rproblem, does it has to do something with that excel has an option o make a copy or so?

Is that workbook shared?

Excel creates temporary files for these shared workbooks and at times they are not deleted

Cheers

Hi Shasur,

thx for replying.
I think the problem is solved.
As you mentioned, indeed Excel creates temp files. And as the directory was suddenly protected against writing it couldn´t delete the files. So it must be that.
I scanned the directories and found 1 virus (copy.exe). So it must be that.....
Well I am happy again that everything is working fine

Thx again for the reply

Glad that you have solved the problem and removed the virus too
