Login Question

Hi,

I was just wondering: Is it advisable to leave yourself logged in at a certain location? To clarify this, let me say that I usually log in to P2P at either my home computer or one of the computers on campus at MATC.
    Now, before I leave school, I always make sure to log off of this site since one of the computers I am using on campus at MATC is a public computer. When I'm at home, however, I don't really do this because even though my dad uses the home computer sometimes, he never comes to the forums. That said, I've been leaving myself logged in at home because I know that I'm the only one who uses these forums.

Any insight on this would be really appreciated

I use multiple computers (they're mine, not public), and don't usually log out. I can't think of any reason to log out unless you think someone that you don't want to have access to your account will use that computer. I usually don't log out at home because no one but my family uses the computer anyway, and, like your dad, none of my family ever comes to P2P but me.

I would assume that at college you log in under a profile, and that you log out of that profile when you leave college, others sharing the machine would do so under a different profile, that is they would have there own cookies under their profile and not be automatically logged in when they enter p2p as you.

Maybe someone from p2p can confirm this.

PS Do you get picked on at college for asking the lecturer too many unrelated questions? :)hehe...

I've got a network account that I use at college but it's not the same as my P2P Member name. I don't think anyone else at MATC (except for my HTML Dynamic instructor) uses the P2P forums. Anyways, yes, I do make sure to log off the MATC network as well as P2P before I leave school.

If you are using a Windows machine and have to use a network login to gain access, your cookies for p2p would be stored under that profile. No one else using the machine would have access to p2p as you unless they logged in using the same network profile you use.
