I mean you seem to post alot.. but the fact is you post less than 2 messages a day, on average.. while Imar is posting over 6 per day- on average.

That is solely due to the fact that I have other things to work on so I can't spend all my time posting here.

Be that as it may, can we get back to the original topic? I think it would be a good idea

Hmmmm, over here they say: "If you want something done, ask a busy guy to do it".
The busier I am with other stuff, the more time I seem to have to squeeze out another P2P post...

 Hal,

What do you mean by this? I do not think that I post here on a daily basis. The times I do post, it's to ask for help, help someone else or offer a suggestion.
Ben,

One thing to consider is that many of us are subscribed to the P2P feedback forum. Any time someone posts to this forum, we get an email. You post here quite often and thus we see lots of posts from you. In fact, fully 25% of all your posts ever at p2p.wrox.com have been to the feedback forum.

Overall this is symptomatic of a larger problem that affects a growing number of forum members. There seems to be too much "noise" going on in this forum. This obscures legitimate feedback about the site and the forums overall.

Maybe there should be a "free for all" forum, where people have the opportunity to discuss options, new features or anything non P2P related. As soon as there is some agreement on the usefulness of an idea or feature, it can be posted on-topic in the P2P feedback forum. This will move a lot of (sometimes useless) discussion out of this forum, into the forum bit-bucket.

Just an idea (that would have been perfect for such a forum)...

The only person I could think of is you back when this site was re-opened....hehe.
(Non-technical/Feedback posts that is.)

Imar:

I like the idea about the new 'chat' forum.... maybe we could move this topic there if it's made :)

Also I like the idea that the FAQ and Code Download page link directly to APress. But if people don't read them, why would they read the links? :(

Appearantly people do not read the FAQ or Download Code page at all before asking for code.

Just my thoughts,

Snib

I tend to think that people with less than perfect English skills ( if you've noticed BTW this accounts for 99% of the people asking these questions ) tend to scan for the book title only and when they don't find it make no attempt at translating anything else on the page. This accounts for people who ask the same question in the same forum directly after someone else has asked that exact question. So all the "The code is here" lines in the world won't help -- that is unless you translate it into several languages or better yet offer the "complete" book list. For instance, if the tables were turned, I know a little Spanish, and I know if this were a Spanish website I wouldn't bother trying to read everything on the page. I'd look for the text matching that of me libro. Again, the laziness factor not included, because as we all know this variable is always going to be in the equation. Think like the lazy, emulate the lazy and then derive your solution.

Regards,
Rich

Richard,
If you recall we had all the books here at one point- APress sent a laywers letter and told wiley to take them down. But, I agree with the observation on the language barrier.

Rod,
I thought most of the posts I made were feedback...
