Default IIS problem in IE but not in other browsers

Hello all,

This is a weird one, I can look at my asp app in Mozilla and Netscape.
But it gives me the good old...

"The page cannot be displayed.
There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed."

Now is it just me or does that not seem a little strange?

I would think that if I can run my asp app in non-microsoft browsers it should definately work in IE.

I'm using Win2000 Pro

Any tips or suggestions are welcome.

Well, it doesn't always have to be like that.

Apparently, you're looking at what Microsoft calls a Friendly Error Message. To turn that feature off, follow the steps in this FAQ: http://Imar.Spaanjaars.Com/QuickDocID.aspx?QUICKDOC=264 and then run the page again.

You should get more, detailed and very unfriendly error messages ;) Can you post those to this list?

Cheers,

Imar

Hmmm, never seen this error before, but a quick Google search brought this up:

http://www.webservertalk.com/message489310.html

This might explain the difference between IE and other browsers....

Cheers,
