Feature Request
Hi there,
Would it be possible to display the local server time somewhere on the page? Since the post time doesn't adapt to my timezone (which could be another feature request, but I appreciate the time it would take to implement that), it would be nice to see what time it is at the server, so it's easier to figure out how long ago a certain message was posted......
A nice place for this would be at the bottom of each page, right after the "This page was generated in 0.11 seconds":
This page was generated in 0.11 seconds at 10:42 p.m.
Please????? ;)

Is the server time is Eastern Standard Time or Eastern Daylight Time?

Are the posts all EST as well? It does not list it by each post time. (Just wanted to make sure)

A new feature has been added to the forums that allows you to set your preferred time zone.
See this topic for the announcement:
http://p2p.wrox.com/forum.asp?FORUM_ID=45
If you don't set a preferred time zone, all times and dates on the site are based on Eastern Standard time (EST).

Great. This is even better than displaying the sever time and a lot more than I was hoping for with my initial request.
Thanks, Bruce.

Eastern Daylight Savings Time is not over until the last weekend in October. That's when EST kicks in. We're still in EDT.

The original time system did not correct for Daylight Savings time- so, while it was 8PM here in NJ EDT.. the server was showing the 7PM EST time....
Now, with the futher refined system, Bruce has given us the ability to set our own timezones and, if selected, will correct for Daylight Savings Time.
So, even though the system is upgraded now- at the time of posting the server was, in fact, showing EST.

Not in Indiana we're not.
Indianapolis (where this site is hosted) does not observe daylight savings time. It is EST all year long here.
