Yes, it can. You go to the control panel, add/remove programs. Then somewhere in there is an option to add optional Windows components. IIS is among those optional components.

OK with Windows XP Professional answer.

New Question:

Does IIS run on WINDOWS XP HOME EDITION? If so, how to install. Can't find it on my Add/delete lists anywhere.
