Default CSharpToday

I would like to know why CSharpToday is off line?
I am a paying subscriber and wish to utilize the resources i paid for is that so hard to ask!!!!

You Wiley stated that if we had concerns to contact a list of individuals which was listed on the Wrox site for the past few month.
So i did, i contacted Sharon Cox the following is what i asked this contact, ("Sharon,
What will happen to C# and Visual Studio.Net as a whole?
I recently renewed my subscription to C# Today back in March 2003 and have found that I no longer have access to the code associated with the articles.
What will happen to C# Today site will it continue or not?
Sincerely,
Ron Good") as you can tell i received [u]NOTHING</u> from this person concerning this issue i don't know about you but when i pay for things i expected to receive what i pay for!!!

But i guess i got screwed just as everyone else did, i just can believe that you took peoples money for subscriptions when you knew that the site and other sites were going to be gone before there subscriptions ran out.

Thanks for nothing Wiley!!!

Responding on behalf of Wiley and Wrox, we did not purchase asptoday.com or csharptoday.com along with the Wrox name, books, wrox.com, p2p.wrox.com, and the other web sites we did purchase.

So, no one at the new Wrox can comment on what the new owner of those sites might have planned for them, or even if there is a new owner.

If there is someone out there who does know definitively what will happen with these sites, we'd welcome an answer here.

As for the issue of email responsiveness, I apologize for my own inability to keep up with the email that has been coming in in the weeks since we posted my email address on the wrox.com home page. I (and I think most of the editors are in a similar situation) have received on average 300-400 additional emails each per week needing either technical support for a book, information about site status, and other questions. We've tried our best to answer every question, or forward it to someone who can answer. On average, we've each accomplished 48 hour turnaround on responses except on weekends. Due to the volume of email, some may have similpy been missed and I am sorry for that.

Finally, regarding the asptoday.com and csharptoday.com, Wiley and the new Wrox did not take anyone's money or receive any subscriber money after our purchase of Wrox assets. We have no involvement with those sites operationally or financially nor have we at any time in the past.

I apologize for the confusion created by this.

Ok this is very frustrating. I exchanged emails with a representive from APress and they informed me that APress only purchased ASPToday and that CSharpToday was purchased by Wiley/Wrox.

Someone needs to figure out what is going on.

I am sure that there are probably a lot of people out there like myself who got screwed by wrox out of their annual CSharpToday subscription. So far trying to find answers has been impossible. Everyone has a different story.

This reflects very poorly on the company. All I know is that I have purchased 20+ titles from worx over the last 3 years. But after this I seriously doubt I will ever purchase one of their books again.

Questions about the status of csharptoday.com and asptoday.com have certainly been at the top of the list of frequently asked questions (yes, I am working on FAQ) we have received over the last few weeks.

I can assure you, after going back to the people here who dealt with the Wrox liquidator and asking for clarification numerous times, we did not purchase asptoday.com or csharptoday.com, despite what you might have heard.

If we did not purchase it and APress did not purchase it, I can only guess it went unsold. This was an asset liquidation. There is no guarantee that every former Wrox asset was purchased.

I am sorry that the confusion regarding these sites reflects poorly on the Wrox name. I can only hope that you will not hold the demise of these sites, if they indeed are gone forever, against the Wrox authors and new Wrox staff who have no control over the destiny of those sites.

This is what I am sure. I already confirm with both party(APress and Wiley)

Apress bought ASPToday, the site is up. You can get all the infor u need in ASPToday site now.

About CSharpToday site, this is what I got from Apress
"No, Apress did not purchase C# Today. I'm afraid I don't
know what happened to that site. The liquidators informed
me that they sold it to Wiley, although I've been unable
to get any direct confirmation of that from Wiley."

But Wiley (jminatel) he deny that Wiley bought the CsharpToday web site.

This is what happened now, if u paid for ASPToday site then you are lucky. If u paid for CSharpToday site then its bad luck to you. You need to hope one of buyer will buy csharptoday site or hopely someone else will buy it.

Good luck to you all.

I have an update to the questions about C# Today and ASPToday. I have also posted this new corrected answer to the FAQs.

ASPToday.com was purchased by APress.
We purchased the URL for CSharpToday.com. However, at this time we do not have any plans to reopen that site. Although we bought the URL, we did not acquire the supporting content or subscriber list. Further, we received no subscription payments for CSharpToday. Those were received by the former owners of WROX.

So thats what we (the subscribers who paid for it) should learn:
subscribing for online content isnt worth anything at all because the people in charge for it lack of responsibility?

Who is the former owner of csharptoday.com? Mybe i can find him with a pocket full of 100$ bills ni molokai surfin on the wave of success...

frustrating.

David:
One of the lessons learned, for better or for worse, is that an online subscription can suffer the same fate as a print magazine or journal subscription. If a print magazine publisher goes out of business, it's unlikely there's any cash reserve to refund money to subscribers.

You are right. But they will inform me properly that I cant expect anymore.
With csharptoday it was different. I would have accepted it if there was a small notification. But there was nothing.
Maybe my statement was unclear. I am frustrated about the way, not the fact itself. As you said, and I agree, things like that can happen.
Thanks for replying,
David

David:
I see the reason you are frustrated by the handling on this and understand your point of view. In this case, unfortunately we didn't purchase the subscriber list for CSharpToday so there was no way for us to contact and notify subscribers.
