i need to know how to send emails from my program i have read many codes that show how to send emails.but i wonder why SmtpMail.SmtpServer doesn't work.
i need working SmtpMail.SmtpServer. is that possible?

For SmtpMail, you must have the Smtp Server installed and running. If you do not, you can't send emails. This comes with all MS server software.

It's pretty straight forward.

In order to use the SmtpMail object, you must have an SMTP server installed and running on the same machine as your coding on.

Install the SMTP server, or use another way to send email.

Depending on how capable you want your SMS sender to be, it might be fairly simple. Usually, sending mail to cell phones can be done directly thru email by sending mail to phonenumber@cellserviceprovider.com. You could either provide a dropdown list of providers (thereby getting the second half of the email address) or have the sender just enter the full email address of the phone. My feeling is that this is much easier than trying to interface to SMS systems.

Hey,

When ASP was around, there was an ASPMail (or something like that) utility that could do it. You need to look for a free or Third-Party tool to do it without using the SMTP Server.

Don't know much about SMS.

Well, think about that. An SMTP that is open to the public for sending mail? Hello spammers!

Usually your ISP will have an SMTP server that you can use.

Can you provide more information about that Mehdi? From what I see, the SMTP service is provided as part of a hosting package. This is not the same as "free SMTP service" in general. From the questions the original poster has asked, it doesn't sound like they are using a web host, otherwise they'd have this capability already.
