Hi,
I have noticed that when there is a table displayed that is larger than the width of the screen, then the width of the columns are automatically reduced to accomodate the entire the entire table onto the screen.
This is something that I do not want to happen.
Is this happening because of some default property of the table ?

Yes, you should try setting the width of the table absolutely
<table width="900"> for eg
