Without .NET runtime it is not possible to execute an .NET exe.

thanks pradeep,
But what i thought was, If i am creating a small utility software and want to distribute to others, i cannot expect .net runtime in all the machines. Is there any way to pack runtime also in my setup and if it is not there in the target machine, gets installed automatically.
rgds,
bharathi.

Microsoft has made the .NET runtime platform installation (dotnetredist.exe) available as a free download from Microsoft .NET Framework Redistributable . You can download this and install this exe before you install your application on the target machine.

Also before installing the .NET framework on your system you may want to check whether it is installed previously or not, for that you can write a simple script to check whether there is a directory named "C:\WINNT\Microsoft.NET\Framework" or else the registry key "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\.NETFramewo rk", if either of them exists then we can say that the .NET framework is installed on that machine and skip installing the redistributable package.

Hope this helps!
