Default Newbie .Net Question

Greetings~

I am new to .Net. I am a ColdFusion/Javascript guy. I am in the process of learning .Net and have been given a task and want to get some advice from people that know more than I.

My task is that I have a software program that is traditional in nature...meaning installed via cd, etc. What my customer wants is to be able to provide the same software via online as opposed to cd based then have people pay a subscription. Has anyone done something like this and what kinds of hoops does one need to jump through? I realize it is a big task potentially, which is why I am asking the question. Any feedback you have would be appreciated.
