Default Making my site searchable on search engines?

I designed www.arenabadminton.com.my and i want to make it easily searchable
on major search engines. I went to http://www.google.com/addurl/ and http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html to add my site on the search engine.

I'm very new to this so please bear with me. How can i improve the standings of
my website on search engines and make it easily searchable. Is there anything that i can do in XHTML to improve it?

Thank you in advance for all your thoughts and views.

* Get other relevant websites to link back to it.
* Include it in relevent web directories (open directory, et al ).
* Include useful meta description and keywords on every page.
* Give it a month or two for any of this stuff to have much effect!

Thanks Charlie, i didn't think of getting other relevant websites to link back to it. Didn't know that would improve search engine results.

Thanks again, really appreciate it.

Kenneth
