Default Beginner needs simple App Launcher

Hey Guys,
I'm relatively new to the whole programming thing but as my first project wanted to try to make a quick .hta file (for example) that simply displayed around four buttons linking to different apps on my Windows Vista PC.

I'm just looking for a bit of feedback on how to create functioning buttons (I know this part) that will take me to an application and open it (not so sure)
e.g. Internet button that opens iexplorer and so on.

Dparsons, I would prefer the solution to be HTML or JavaScript but if a poster has any other suggestions I'm more than open to these.

Those languages won't do you much good as they execute inside the realm of a web browser and are not capable of opening applications on your machine.

You are going to need to use something like C# or VB.NET to achieve your desired results.
