Creatin Threads in WAS 5 EJB Container

Hi,

We have an application that creates and manages threads in EJB container and this application will be migrated to WAS 5 base version soon. While reading "Professional IBM WebSphere 5.0" book on page 508 I came across this statement
"Nonetheless, WebSphere extends some leniency by allowing you to request additional permissions. Application administrators can audit this and decide whether to allow applications that request this additional permission to be deployed."

Would you please let me know what these permissions are, where are they set and is it possible to set these permissions in WAS 5 base version?
