Default Fax programming in Java application

Hi,
   Can any one tell me how to do Fax Programming in Java web application?
   Is there any special APIs in Java to do that?
   Does we need any special softwares to do that?
   Plz send me your valuable suggestion ASAP...becz we hv to develop this in our application (java programming)..
