Default JTextArea & color

how do you specify color for certain parts of the JTextArea? do you have to use another class to do this?

what i want is like a black background, but some text in the text area can have different foreground colors.

Default

It is impossible by using JTextArea to do this, You can use JEditorPane, and set HTML text or rtf text into the JEditorPane.
