Joe, what do you mean by "doesn't cope well with characters that have diacritical marks"? It's been my experience that these characters are not allowed by such a regexp, and if I want them allowed then I have to add them explicitly to the char range,
e.g. /[^a-zA-ZæåäéöøÆÅÄÉÖØ]/

Thats what I meant, if someone's name is 'Å', then they will pass the isNumber [^a-zA-Z] test if they enter their name instead of telephone. Okay a contrived example but I do know someone called ÅA, or is it AÅ, I can never remember? :)
