Default JSP system requirements?

Can jsp pages run on any machine, must they be server parsed or can I just install a servlet engine?
What is the bare minimum a machine must have/be for JSP pages to work?
I’m thinking of writing a web application in JSP and distributing it on a cd to run on the user's machine (not online). what other software would the user need?
 - JDK?
 - Some kind of server software (Apache/IIS)?
 - Can I just install Tomcat on a windows workstation?

Would it be much easier (in terms of distribution and installation) to write it as a free standing java application?

Any advice appreciated,
Vauneen

while configuring JSP you need three things.
1. Webserver ( Tomcat only)
2. JDK
3. MM Driver. if you wanna connect it with your mysql database
