Default Using Image Icon Class

I am trying to use ImageIcon class of Java in a JSP script
and I am working on redhat 8 machine but i am unable to see
the desired output because of xserver error is there any way to
get the properties of an image like height,width and pixmap without
using xserver .If there is a function in JAVA then tell me about
that or in JSP
