Default Installation of Win98 and WinXP

Hi,

I have installed Win98 and Win XP in two separate partitions. Now, it seems that my Win98 is corrupted and i Want to reinstall Win98 without removing WinXP and it is not happening easily.

Is there any way to do it easily.

this can't be done.

u may remove important files for d:/ to c:/ or other drive
delete now windows xp on d:/

similarly do for data on c:/

install win 98 and then win xp

other way u may try to repair win 98 using win 98 startup floppy

When you have both WinXp and Win98 in the same machine, Booting machanism is manage by WinXP.
Assume that Win98 on drive C:\ and WinXP on drive D:\ ....
You have to backup booting files in drive C:\ such as boot.ini , NTDetect.com etc. in your save place.
Back up your important data in drive C: ,also.
After that format Drive C:\ and install new fresh win98.
Replace all booting files in drive C:\. You may have to config boot.ini again.
..That 's all...

Try this solution , and let's me know how does it work ?
Good luck.

There is a file that you can copy from windows xp i386 folder to the C drive and that should fix the problem. Unfortunately, I don't remember the file name. Search Microsoft and you should be able to find it.

I know I had this problem 2 years ago, and fixed it by just copying a file to the C directory.
