Default Beginning Red Hat Linux 9

I just installed Red Hat Linux 9 according to the directions in the book.
I keep getting a error that reads:

"Could not look up internet address for x1-6-00-07-e9-b5-56-c2. This will
prevent GNOME from operating correctly. It may be possible to correct the
problem by adding x1-6-00-07-e9-b5-56-c2 to the file /etc/hosts."

I installed twice and got the same message. I get my ip address from my
internet provider and they use DHCP. I don't comfortable continuing with
this problem. Can someone please help me solve this problem.

Have u checked the dhcp deamon is running ?
/etc/rc.d/init.d/dhcp status (or dhcpd status, don't remember)
yet, be aware that getting online with linux involves more than just that.

configuring network is quite tricky with linux...
neway, u should be able to get full information on redHat network :

http://www.europe.redhat.com/documen...-9/ch-ppp.php3 (getting online documentation)

Well, I can't help with questions about geneology, but you can try adding a line which looks like this in your /etc/hosts file (just open it with a text editor, such as gedit, as root).
127.0.0.1 localhost.localdomain localhost x1-6-00-07-e9-b5-56-c2
