Default How 2 make a searching system

Hi all,
Few day ago I was making a personal dairy with Personal Contact support that means you can save your personal contacts in the MySql DB. But the problem is that I have 160 contacts in my contacts list & the code that i use it shows all the contact name in just one page. Like this :-

Some Name 1
Some Name 2
Some Name 3
Some Name 4
Some Name 5
Some Name 6
Some Name 7
Some Name 8
Some Name 9
Some Name 10
Some Name 11
Some Name 12
Some Name 13
Some Name 14
Some Name 15
Some Name 16
Some Name 17
Some Name 18

Now it is quite hard to find a particular name from that list, so I am trying to make a searching system where you have to put only the first name of your contact & it will searches in the whole contacts list for that name.

PLEASE HELP ME ...
                                                                                                              ---- Thanking You

Code:
$sql = mysql_query("SELECT * FROM table_name WHERE field_name LIKE '" $_GET['q']."%'");
