This is my first post.

I have a problem. I want to design a php-based script for the statistics of my won site. There are many sites that provide free stats (like www.statcounter.com), but I want to have a script of mine.

I just want to know that how can I understand that how many times a visitor has returned to my site and what was the duration of his each visit using cookies or sessions?

I have tried it many times but having problems with codings.
