Default Choice of TFT Monitor

First of all sorry to cross post SQL Server.

I am looking for advise on 17" TFT monitors, i currently use a Dell 17" CRT montor and have read that TFT monitor have more dots per inch hence a sharper picture

Any comments are welcome, eg monitor make, sharpness of text. My working resolution is 1280x1024.

I constanly have SQL Server, VB and VB.Net open and find that I get eye stain periodically
