Default Report Designer & Visual Studio.NET

Hopefully someone can help me. I have Visual Studio 2005 Team Development Version. I wanted to get Report Designer to be able to render reports from Windows Applications without the need of SQL Server (any version). I was not able to find out how to get Business Intelligence Studio which is what I think I need without purchasing SQL 2005.

I finally got SQL 2005 but could not install(addin) BI Studio without installing SQL 2005. So I installed SQL 2005 and then it has an option for BI but only through SQL2005. I thought that it was a plug-in to Visual Studio 2005 but I can't find it there after all the installs. I can only go through SQL2005 menus to get to the BI.Studio.

Is this how it is suppose to work? I thought it was a control that could be used through Visual Studio for rendering Windows Apps reports.

Maybe someone can set me straight or on the right track. I'm not into SQL although I had SQL2000 on my machine I'm not sure how to move anything from one 2000 to 2005 SQL so this just confuses the issues more.

I was expecting a control to be installed on Visual Studio 2005 that would allow me through ODBC connections to connect to any data source whether it was Access, SQL or Oracle but that didn't happen.

HELP.

Jim
