Default Variation propagate webparts

I have en source & french target variation sites. when I create a site in english it does create in french too. I created bunch of webparts, publish and they appear in french site, well all good. now, I personalize the french pages like content, webpart title and others. And when I modified the content in english, and publish the site... all the other parts of the page is updating my french page so, I am loosing all my personalization. If I disable the option in variation no to update the target webparts.. then admin has to do all updates manully as some content or webparts may not appear on french default sites. any advise....
