Default DTS Error

I know there is a DTS forum but I thought it may get a better chance of a response in here:

I am unable to create a ODBC connection to a certain database that we use. The database is about 15 years old now and uses ODBC drivers to get to it. However, although I can access the database via a connection string in VB, Business Objects and ASP, as soon as I try to connect via DTS the SQL Server just shuts down. If i do it from the server itself I get no error message but if I do it remotely from my PC I get a memory could not be written error. I have SQL Server 2000 SP3 running on Windows Server 2000 SP4 and the latest MDAC. Any ideas of a patch or even another way to set up a connection. All other connections are ok (ie 1 to Access, 1 to Oracle and 1 to SQL Server)

Cheers
