Hi

It is possible to back up a database to another computer. We use this method as there is more disk space on another machine from which sql server resides.

In our scheduled job in the 'Steps' tab click new then add the following (my example) to the command box (obviously change the database name, path etc) :-

BACKUP DATABASE [VISA] TO DISK = N'\\ecsw2kdc2\DEV01-SQL-Backup\VISA.bak' WITH INIT , NOUNLOAD , NAME = N'VISA backup', NOSKIP , STATS = 10, NOFORMAT

Regards

Nickie

Quoted from BOL, 'Backup Devices, Overview':

"If the backup is to be performed over the network to a disk on a remote computer, use the universal naming convention (UNC) name in the form \\Servername\Sharename\Path\File to specify the location of the file. As with writing files to the local hard disk, the appropriate permissions needed to read or write to the file on the remote disk must be granted to the user account used by SQL Server."
