I have the following problem
There are two sql server
On the first there is Enerprise Edition (EE) and second is Desktop Engine(DE).
My sql has EE, and my task is to make backup for one database from the other sql DE to file on my computer.
I made New SQL Server Registration to DE Sql and I tryed to start SQL Server Agent on DE computer from my computer but I got the massage:
An error 5 (Access is denied) occurred while performing this service operation on the sqlserveragent service.

I tryed to make a job from my computer on the other (DE) but when I start the job i got the massage: SQL Server is not currently running.

How can I solve this problem, and make backup work correctly.

Hi

Have you tried starting the service from the computer that has Desktop Engine(DE) rather than performing this remotely.

This machine, when set up should have the agents passwords set etc and it is probable that you dont have the rights to start such services.

  On the machine where MSDE is installed, run the client network configuration utility
    CLICONFG.EXE
    to enable a network protocol for the MSDE SQL Svr.
    Then you'll probably be able to access MSDE from a remote computer using Enterprise Mgr or Qry Analyzer.
