Default Connecting to AS/400 from SQL SERVER

Hi,
I have been trying to connect to AS/400 from SQL SERVER. I have started with connection object in package designer. IBM client access ODBC driver is installed in my local machine. i selected new data source to be the Client access ODBC driver. then selected the file DSN. and browsed to AS400 datasourec on my local machine. then gave my username and password on AS400. When i try to give the password that i have on the as/400. it takes it. but then everytime it prompts saying that the username is wrong. i have to mannualy change the username and password several times while designing the DTS itself. Please help me!. it is actually prompting by taking my windows password and saying that it does not exists on AS/400 machine.

thanks,
vakula

Hi Vakula,

I have done this before using client access ODBC driver, it's quite sensitive to the different options in the DSN but it can be done.

You say you're using a file DSN? In the 'ODBC Data Sources' dialog, 'configure' the DSN and take a look at the options on the 'General' tab. Right next to the 'System' drop-down you'll see a 'Connection Options' button - click it and you'll get another dialog to set the default user name. You probably have the 'use Windows user name' option selected. I always use the 'Use the user ID specified below' option and put my AS/400 logon in there.
