Default MSSQL-Cannot remove old files

Hi, I create a maintenance plan in MSSQL 2000 for a Backup. I clicked the box of "remove all files older than 3 days"...I only need to keep 3 days of backup.

however, the function of removing old files did not work. The backup works well, but it keeps on appending the backup files to the folder. I need to remove the old files manually.....How can I fix this?
