can anybody tell me the main advantages and disadvantages of the Microsoft SQL Server 2005 vs. SQL Server 2000?!?!

There are a lot of new features for performance, easier coding, can write stored procedures, views, udfs, triggers, udts in C# or VB.NET, better XML functionality, new services, better high availibility features (some of which are now availble with Std Edition).

Downsides: You have to learn how to use the new features. You may have to rewrite some of your applications to have them work better, some may have to modified just to work (as some old features have been removed).
