Hi,

I logged on as SA to create a DTS package to create an Excel file on a network drive and import the query result to that Excel file. When I tried to run the DTS, it ran thru all. When I created a job to schedule the DTS, it was failed. I had the following errors:
Executed as user: DSHS\hrdadmin. ...OnStart: DTSStep_DTSActiveScriptTask_1 DTSRun OnError: DTSStep_DTSActiveScriptTask_1, Error = -2147220482 (800403FE) Error string: Error Code: 0 Error Source= Microsoft Excel Error Description: Microsoft Excel cannot access the file '\\dshsasdfps1\Shareroot\home\buibt\ASDExcel'. There are several possible reasons:  The file name or path name does not exist.  The file you're trying to open is being used by another program. Close the document in the other program, and try again.  The name of the workbook you're trying to save is the same as the name of another document that is read-only. Try saving the workbook with a different name. 1. does your excel file exist?
2. Under what credentials are you using the run the job?
3. Does the account used in #2 have the permission to the folders and or server?

Try creating the account on the server and not from your local workstation or pc. When you create the DTS from your workstation it runs from your local workstation and uses the security contents of the local workstation and since it may not have the proper security the job fails.

check the job is run using the an account with sufficient privileges, avoid using the the SA account

I am happy now. I found out that because MS SQL server is running under system loggon account. So I did set MS SQL server have the same account the Agent service account and set permission for that account to have write access to my folder on the network drive.

To answer few questions from jemacc
1. No the Excel file is not existed.
2. I am running the job under my window authentication
