Default Problems Testing Program in Visual Studio .Net

I have the academic version of Visual Studio.net 2002.
Whenever I try to test a vb program inside of studio, visual studio locks up. The PC works fine. This happens if I am in debug or release mode. I am running on XP Service Pack 1. I am using the MS .NET FRAMEWORK VERSION 1.0.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Thanks

Ronald W. Reesor
