LOL, yes yes it was. Just wanted to point out to the OP how it could be done but also the obvious shortcomings associated with doing it that way. =P

surely you express your ideas much better than me... but i would maybe use a file and pass the file to avoid having all the problems with the string in memory...

and definitive is better a DTS than try to load this "by hand".

Hi,
Thanks Guys for u r replies.
gbianchi's solution worked a lot 4 my process. with which i am able to attach the file in just 2.40 mins.

I am really very very thank ful to u ppl.

And i have one more question to u guys.

all this process is to build a kind of application which we can call as Merge/Purge.
as we have so send news letters to our customers i have to do this process.

I am collecting all the address's for our new online customers and i am collecting the previous month's data and i am combining both the data. now i want to do merge/purge to eliminate the duplicate address. and prepare the final list of address's.

so i request u ppl if u have any best solution for this pls let me know.

Thanq once again for the previous solution.

Regards
Bhaskar Kiran

mmm.. i supposed that a good way around could be to have a good key in the table (that's meet the requirement for your purge) and just send all the data and forget about the inserting errors. but i really don't see what you need...

Glad that you make it work...

Thanks Guys for your nice replies. but the thing is i am using a 3rd party utility which will generate the exact zip, Address codes in the application so for that i have to do merge purge in vb.net only.

I will be very thankful if any one can help me regarding this process (Merge/Purge)

I have no idea how to help you with that type of explination. I assume you are going to have to pull the current data down from the server into code and work with memory resident datatables to acheive this, but without knowing exactly what you mean, I have no idea.
