Whats up everyone,
I am working on a personal project on my PC and had a need to edit the HOST file for IIS so that
http://mysitename/default.aspx was the same as
http://localhost/default.aspx.
This works fine as using either of the URLs in a web browser brings back the proper website but I ran into a problem when I tried to create my Web Application.
At File --> New Website when I choose HTTP as the location and typed in
http://mysitename/ as the location I get a Windows Login box with the username as <machinename>\Guest and it asks me for a password. Problem is, the Guest Account is disabled through my user admin but this login box does not allow me to login as anything other then <machinename>\Guest
The real crazy part is that if i create the application at
http://localhost there isn't a problem at all.
Does anyone know what the problem is here?
OS is XP Pro not Vista.

I will only tell you how to do it, not do it for you.
Unless, of course, you want to hire me to do work for you.
