windows change mode

When I'm starting Remote Assistance (msn messenger)
or Desktop Sharing (Netmeeting) or Whiteboard (msn,Netmeeting) the monitor blink take place.
In my opinion some mode change occur.
Point is that my application work properly only after this mode change!! so I would like
to know
what's going on ??? What modes are changed and how change this mode manually?
