Default Lets get this forum rolling!

Hi everyone,

I'm Scott Klein, and I am currently writing a book on Windows Communication Foundation for Wrox. This forum has been pretty quite and with WCF currently in RC1 this is the perfect time to get this forum popping with activity.

If you have question and/or want to discuss this great technology please don't hesitate to post here. I can't promise to answer them but I do promise to answer as many as I can. Plus I am sure there are others with a some knowledge on this topic as well.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Hi Scott, I am just reading your WCF book at the moment. I am just at the end of Chapter 5 and I had a few questions.

1. The homework assignment was to add in a HTTP binding, I am not sure that I understand how to do this so far as I thought that you could only host the HTTP bindings through IIS and the example host is a windows application?

2. The reason that I started looking into WCF was that I wanted an easy way to configure a service such that I can use the same types on the host and the client. I.e., if I am returning a Sample.Person type from the client, the host would ref the assembly containing the type and create an instance of this type and not a proxy. Can this be done?

Thanks in advance
Anthony

Hi Dewy,

You are referring to item number 2 in your post, correct? I am testing this now, but am also pinging my contacts at MS to verify. I'll have an answer to you in the next 24-48 hours.

Scott

Hi Scott

Don't mean to be a pest but was wondering if you MS buddies managed to shed any light on this problem?
