Default Discount

Wouldn't it be wonderful if Wiley offered a discount on second editions by mailing in the back cover of the first edition and filling out a rebate form printed from the web? Some years ago I remember a rebate offered by a computer book publisher for mailing in several back covers of their books. Was a very nice gesture for the loyal book buyers. I haven't seen another promotion like it since. I'm pretty sure it was SAMS publishing or whomever owned them at the time.
Perhaps Wiley could work a deal with Amazon.com where on second editions of books or if you order three Wrox books and you mail in back covers you can get an amazon.com certificate worth $10 towards the purchase of more books(maybe even just more Wiley books).

Hi Dan,

That's a very interesting idea. It might be a bit challenging logistically, but something that's worth looking into. I've been kicking around a couple of related ideas to try and reward loyal customers. Let me talk this over with some other folks at WROX and see if we can come up with something that might work.

   Thanks for passing this along,

Joe,
I noticed on the apress.com website today that they have a Frequent Buyers program. If you've bought five apress books you get a sixth for free. Details are here: http://www.apress.com/book/frequentBuyer.html
Wrox should out do them and make it four books. :D
