accessing variables in templates

hi I have an xsl with a variable declared the thing is i want this variable to be accesses in a template kept in another xsl file. and also this value should be got in the original file as well
here is an example

Code:

<xsl:for-each .../>
<xsl:variable name="level1" select="position()"/>
<xsl:call-template name="Level2Template/> 

</xsl:for-each/>

<xsl:template name="">
<xsl:for-each .../>
<xsl:variable name="level2" select="postion()">
<img name="{$level1}{$level2} .../><!-- thats why i need level1's value
Also the level2 value is needed in the main program to go further down the loop-->
-->
</xsl:for-each/>
</xsl:templae>

Please do your readers the courtesy of writing in whole sentences with capital letters and full stops.

You can pass parameters from one template to another. Use xsl:with-param within the xsl:call-template to supply the parameter, and xsl:param within the xsl:template to receive it.
