G'day,

Our department uses MS Access as a front-end to connect to tables in a DB2 back-end.

When data is updated in the DB2 tables, MS Access sometimes appears to display old data.
To refresh the data in MS Access, the ODBC linked table needs to be deleted and then re-linked.

One would think ODBC is only a connection / link and will display whatever is stored in the source table, not somehow retain old data from a previous version of the table.

Has anyone else encountered this?
Any ideas for a fix, setting that needs to be changed?

Environment:
MS Office Access 2003 SP2
IBM DB2 ODBC Driver 7.01.00.40
Windows XP

Further to this, when I say that it only occurs 'sometimes', after discussing with a colleague I think the common thing we did notice was that it occurs for the tables that have been dropped and then re-created when being loaded.

I still don't understand how an ODBC link can even remember the old values stored in a table though.

Any advice appreciated.

Okay, the second post clears this up. Whenever the tables change on a back end, the linked table manager needs to be refreshed. I can look up how to automate this, but basically instead of unlinking and relinking, right click on the table, select Linked Table Manager, check the check box next to the tables, and then update the links.

It is not an ODBC issue, but this linked table manager issue.
