I am also using FF 2.0.0.16. WinXP SP3.

Try clicking on one of the "ideas" from the home page (say, the first one - "Creating custom configuration sections in your app.config/web.config") and see what happens.

Hi Lee,

I would like to work with you to try and figure out the problem.  Can you take a screen shot or upload a photo.  This is what I am currently seeing, from a fresh install of FF 2.0.

Ahh... Okay I see the issue it only happens when you are logged in. I will get this new style sheet uploaded, thanks for the bug report.

Maybe we should take this offline? Shoot me an email with your email address and I will send you what I am seeing...

No need I found the problem, thanks again for the bug report.  Apparently FF 2.0 has a slight bug with their box model for floating.  Do a force refresh (CTRL-F5) to clean the local cache and you should be good to go.  Sorry to everybody else who had to sit through the debugging process.  :)

You shouldn't have any more problems, please submit your ideas and pass around the IdeaPipe link to anybody else interested:

Nick,

That occurred to me just as I was doing a screen shot. That was the problem. Cross-browser is a bee-***ch, ain't it?

 Hi Lee,

That is because there are two spin offs from the ASP.NET 2.0 book:
  • ASP.NET MVC Website Programming
  • Entity Framework Website Programming (not actually sure of the title)
Right, I don't know that we're sure of the final title of the book with Entity Framework either. right now, it's the ASP.NET 3.5 Website Programming book listed on Amazon, but that "3.5" will probably turn into something more descriptive closer to when the book will be published.

Nick,

had a quick look at your screenshot - seems to be more heading the web2 standard layout way. i also found a nice site for a good web2 standards compliant css template. it's pretty extensible insofaras it gives options to create the site layout in a multitude of formats. you can get an idea of what you can expect by taking a sneak peak at the 'demo' page. the site includes a link for the full download of the 'kit' as well.

have fun:

I am Chris Love, I am working on the Entity Framework version of the book. I am adding some Web 2.0 features to it. For sure integrating Twitter support. I am investigating using the Facebook toolkit from Codeplex this week too.
As for EF, There were really three ways to take it, using the EntityDataSource, which really defeats the purpose of having an n-Tier application IMO, Linq to Entities and finally straight up Entity SQL. I have decided to go with something that is leveraging Linq to Entities and more of a Domain Driven model. Now I am not a DDD expert by any means, but I think I am getting the architecture closer to that model.
I think I am adding a photo gallery to the site, but I have to check my submitted outline as to if I put that in there or not (I am on the road right now :)).
I am also going to work on adding some AJAX stuff to it, but will put client-side validation in the site. But rest assured I will have BLL data validation, Garbage In = Exception to me.

Chris/Nick et al,

good to hear that the seperate approaches will have some cross over points. one further pretty important aspect that neither of the two books mention is SOA (or WOA as they like to call it 'today'). are you likeley to look at any of the WCF stuff in relation to TBH?? I only ask as more and more each time now there seems to be a requirement to create the UI->server interface as a web service.

just my 2 pence worth...

jimi
