Default footer doesn't appear in right place

Hello:

Where do I look to try to fix my footer? It is appearing in the middle of page, to the right. Horizontally, its about the middle and vertically, it starts from the center and extends to the right of the page.
(I'm using the default style sheets Defaults.css from the book's chapter two which works correctly when viewed in browser) I pasted the very same files in my program.

Rachel

update: I fixed it with the clear: both;

thanks anyways...
