The book says this must be installed on a real device as an emulator will crash. I have a Samsung (Android 4.2.2) with an internet connection but can get no response from an SMS. Has anybody tried this project?

There was a typo in my original message as I acually have 4.4.2: Can anybody check that this project works in KItkat and, if not, what mods are needed to fix it? I understans that many changes were made regarding sending and receiving SMS messages.
